David Whitfield

A celebration of life for David Whitfield, 59, of Gilmer, will be held at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer on Friday, December 9, at 2:00 p.m. David was welcomed home by our Lord and Savior on Monday, December 5, 2011. David was born in Ennis, Texas on October 7, 1952 to Bob and Joan Whitfield. Throughout his life, David was a masterful carpenter with innovative ideas. If he couldn"t find a tool to do the job he needed, he"d build a new tool. He was also an entrepreneur with a passion for introducing good products he believed in to everyone he met. David was crazy about his dogs and once even rushed into his burning home to successfully save the family dog. David was a Papa that had grand hunting adventures for coyotes with his grandkids. Quite a character, everyone who knew David has colorful David Whitfield Stories that usually end in laughter. He will be loved and missed by his father, Bob Whitfield; sister, Debby Estes; brother, Tim Whitfield; son, Scott Whitfield and wife, Michelle; daughter, Melissa Blair and husband, Scott; daughter, Stephanie Larkins; daughter, Sara Aguirre and husband Aaron; daughter, Julie Minton and husband, Daniel; son Adam Whitfield and wife Chelsea. David is also survived by 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Whitfield and brother, Bill Whitfield. David"s special character will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. The family request donations be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701.
