David Marshall Ballard

GILMER- Funeral services for David Marshall Ballard, 65, of Chandler will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 15, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gilmer with Bishop Tim Miller officiating, under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Kelsey Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Ballard passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 in Tyler. He was born on April 17, 1950 in Freeport, Texas to James Marshall and Orene Walters Ballard. Mr. Ballard served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing, and loved listening to Willie Nelson music. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Flake of Gladewater; sister, Linda Bryant and husband, Myron of Gilmer; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Ballard was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Samantha Ballard of Houston, TX, and brother, Bobby Jack Ballard of Longview. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
