David Joe Bowen Gladewater -- Services for David Joe Bowen, 65, of Gladewater, will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012, at 11 A.M. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gara Handorf officiating. Burial will be in Gladewater Memorial Park. David Joe Bowen was born to Cecil and Gwendolyn Bowen on January 12, 1947, in Altus, OK. His youth was spent in Duncan, OK where he attended trade school and became a computer programmer. He went on to capitalize on these skills throughout his life. Joe was a grateful member of Alcoholics Anonymous, remaining happy, clean, and sober for over 25 years. He was known to openly share the story of his struggle to live a better and more fulfilling life. In 1998 he met Kathy, and shortly thereafter, they became husband and wife, enjoying many years together. In 2007, Joe and his wife Kathy invested their resources and efforts in forming Skynet Country Internet. Joe was proud of what he accomplished as a result of his rigorous work schedule. When asked about it by others, he often quipped, "I only work in days that end in 'Y'!" Joe and his wife, Kathy, enjoyed traveling in recent years and spending some well-deserved time away from work. He enjoyed his home in the country surrounded by his furry friends Bandit, Oscar, Madeline and, of course, Little Buddy. His family and friends surround him now and send him with their love and prayers to be with the Lord. Joe was the youngest of four children and is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Bowen, and brother, Paul Bowen. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Bowen; his mother, Gwendolyn Bowen (who recently celebrated her 99th birthday in Tulsa); brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Martha Bowen; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Hank Brandt; and sister-in-law, Mary Bowen. Joe also leaves a son, Shane Hartline, and step-son, William Carothers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
