David Harris

David R. Harris, 77, met his Lord on Feb. 15, 2013 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater on Thursday Feb. 21, 2013 at 10 A.M., officiated by Todd Clifton and Leonard Riley. Burial will follow at Gladewater Memorial Park with Leon Bates officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, from 6 to 8 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. He was born on April 14, 1935 to Russell David and Mabel Hillbrandt Harris in Saginaw,Michigan. David attended Arthur Hill Trade School in Saginaw, Kilgore College and Harding University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958. Later, David worked in various occupations, including accounting before retiring. David enjoyed being a part of the Unforgettable Tuesday"s Day Club, teaching Bible Classes, and he took pride in caring for his flowers and working in his yard. He is survived by Margaret Ward Harris, wife; Russell David Harris and A. Scott Harris, sons; Arlene Walker, sister; Carolyn Anne, Megan Michelle, and David Russell, grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mabel Harris, and by his spouse of 47 years, Carolyn Phillips Harris. The family wishes to thank the 6th floor nurses at Good Shepherd Medical Center and Texas Home Health.
