David Earl Whitfield

David Earl Whitfield also lovingly known as Big Daddy, 87, of Longview, TX passed away on September 18, 2022. David was born in D’lo, Mississippi to John and Ollie Whitfield.

David was a retired Tech Sergeant for the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for 22 years. David was known to always tinker with things around the house as needed and of course working on his Volkswagen. David liked anything outdoors from fishing to camping. He especially loved to spend time with his beloved family and friends. David was a proud member of the Pine Tree Masonic Lodge # 1396 and received his 50 year pin. He was a long time member of the First Church of The Nazarene. David also was a member of the Order of The Eastern Stars. He was also a long time member of the Scottish Rite.

David is survived by wife Mary Ruth Whitfield; children, DeDe Thomson, John Whitfield, Tony Gomillion, Mitch Gomillion, Joann Schilling and husband Bryan, Aline Steele and Sheila Hollis; and his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other loving family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents John and Ollie Whitfield.
