Funeral service for Dana Joe Salter, Sr., 63, of Tyler will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2015 Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Hawkins with Dr. Bill Holmes officiating. Interment will be in the Hawkins Cemetery. Mr. Salter passed Friday, January 2, 2015 in Tyler. Mr. Salter was born June 3, 1951, in Many, LA to James Kile and Mary Jo Holmes Salter. He was retired from the Oil Field, had lived in the Tyler area since 2003 and was a member of the Baptist faith. Mr. Salter is survived by his sons, D. J. Salter Jr. and wife, Michelle and Larry Ray Salter and wife, Juanita; daughter, Harlie Cheyenne Salter; brother, John Lewis and wife, Kathy; sister, Jackie Blackmon and husband, Carl Dean; eight grandchildren, Deven Salter, Sean Salter, Peyton Salter, Lance Salter, Travis Salter, Ethan Salter, Triston Salter and Cannon Salter. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Edward Salter; brother, Jimmy Salter. Pallbearers will be Sean Salter, Mason Edney, Skylar Edney, Kaleb King, Tommy Summers and John Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chad Lewis, Kile Lewis and Deven Salter. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins.
