Mack passed away at his home with his loving family by his side on Monday, June 17, 2013. Mack was born to Irene & Frank Oliver on September 18, 1934 in Sims, Texas. Macks entire life was dedicated to serving others. He retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety where he served as a state trooper and inspection officer and retired after 30 years as a Special Texas Ranger. He served his country as a Texas Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge after serving for 30 years. He served his community for over 50 years as a member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge Chapter # 1138, as past Master of the Lodge and was currently serving as treasurer. He was also a member of the Otis Jones Sunday School Class where he served as a former teacher and kept the lessons always interesting with his challenging questions and thought provoking topics. Mack loved his community, his neighbors, his church, his family and his Lord Jesus Christ. He planted gardens that would feed the entire community and gave away more than he ever kept. He loved riding on his tractor, hunting with his sons and grandsons, and raising cattle and sheep. He is joined in heaven with his lovely bride of 55 years, Jo Oliver, his son Carl Oliver, his mother Irene Oliver, his father Frank Oliver, two brothers, Ed & Wayne Oliver, and sister Naomi May. He leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment and dedication to his children who include his daughter, Diane Click and her husband James of Diana, daughter Lisa Stevenson and her husband Bobbie of Deberry, his daughter Donna Oliver of Nash, his son Mark Oliver and his wife Tracey, and his daughter-in-law Robyn Oliver, all of Diana. He is also survived by his brother BAC Oliver of Sims, Texas and his sister, Jean McLarty of Irving, Texas, many nieces and nephews and a special friend Faye Lewis. Nothing brought him joy more than the ones who called him Papa or Pop which included, April Norris, Joe Mack & Janie Nolley, Kenneth & Ashley Nolley, Amanda & Tony Brasher, Corey & Kaylee Oliver, Chelsea & RJ Ferguson, Crysten & Hunter Millican, Courtney & Justin Verzosa, Caity & Westin Vogl. His life was made complete with his ten great-grandchildren, Christian, Whitlee, Gracie, Nathan, Landon, Carlee, Cooper, Peyton, Reid, and Norah. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. He found great joy in serving others in many ways. His love, kindness and goodness were shown to all who encountered him. He showed love to his family through his patience, peace and self-control. He persevered in all that he did and through his faithfulness he has received the ultimate gift of allhis eternal home. In lieu of flowers, we ask that a contribution be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society, 1301 S. Broadway, Tyler, Texas 75701.
