Clifford Lee Barnes, Sr.

Clifford Lee Barnes, Sr., 79, of Gilmer, passed from this life on Sunday, January 12, 2020. He was born on January 15, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Jimmie and Leah McBee Barnes. Clifford attended school in Gilmer, and later served in the US Navy. After service, he worked for Lone Star Steel. Clifford enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian, and his second wife, Nancy. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jackie Barnes; and a sister, Bonnie Loyd.
Clifford is survived by his son, Clifford Barnes, Jr. and wife, Patti; grandchildren, Richard Barnes, Jennifer Whitehurst and husband, Stephen; a great granddaughter, Lanoree Whitehurst; brothers, Jimmie Barnes, Don Barnes and wife, Maria; sisters, Jane Hudson and husband, Gary; Linda Teague and husband, Dwight; a sister-in-law, Ann Barnes and a brother-in-law, Melvin Loyd.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer, with a private interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
