Cleo Jean Bales

Funeral services for Cleo Jean Bales, 72, of Rising Star, Texas, will be held 9:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2019 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Suzann Ferguson and Sharon Orms officiating. Interment will follow at Old White Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Bales passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019, in Rising Star.

Mrs. Bales was born January 2, 1947 in Littlefield, Texas to the late Freddie and Dorris Harrell. She worked in many areas of the medical profession. Cleo was an independent Christian woman devoted to the Lord. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, crocheting, scrap booking, singing, traveling and riding motorcycles. Cleo loved animals and was considered the unofficial shelter of Rising Star for any stray animals that showed up. Cleo was a loving and adoring wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all the loving family and friends she leaves behind.

She is survived by her son John Corey Bales and wife Tiana; daughter Sondra Pelt and husband Roland; sister Sheila Blackburn; grandchildren Shelby, Miles, Kaleb, Maggie and Jordan; niece Brittany Boling; her loving dog Delilah as well as many other loving family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jimmy R. Bales and son Shannon Ray Bales.
