Clayton Neil VanMeter

Graveside services for Clayton Neil VanMeter, 79, of Gilmer will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Sunset Memorial Park with Bro. Timothy Ryan officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. He was born on November 28, 1934, in Neosho County, Kansas to Milo and Wilma Eppers VanMeter and passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014, in Gilmer. On April 17, 1982, Clayton married Judy McGuirk in Joplin, Missouri and they lived in the Gilmer area since 2011. Mr. VanMeter was a mechanical tool designer for Cessna Aircraft. He served in the National Guard, was a member of society of manufacturing Engineers and past chairman of chapter 52. He is survived by his wife of Judy VanMeter of Gilmer; sons and daughters-in-law, Norman Lee and Billie VanMeter of Joplin, Missouri, Mansford Routledge and Katrina of Fillmore, CA.; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Lynn and Darrell Jones of Gladewater; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Jim Ottem of Hutchison, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Mr. VanMeter was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Wilma VanMeter and son, Gary Wayne VanMeter.
