Due to the current public health situation and mandates set in place for COVID-19, a private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park for Claudean Muckleroy Smith. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Smith will be in a visiting room at Croley Funeral Home on Sunday, April 26, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. for anyone who would like to come by.
Mrs. Smith, 82, of Gilmer, was born on June 9, 1937 in Gilmer to Claude and Lucille Shaw Muckleroy and passed away on April 23, 2020. Claudean was the office manager for Pritchett Water Supply for many years and a member of the Gilmer Church of Christ.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, David Smith and wife, Lisa of Gilmer. Joe Smith and wife, Debbie of Longview, and Wayne Smith of Carrollton; sisters Deloris Justice of Longview and Glenda Cox and husband, Joe of Bettie; grandchildren, Hannah Burke and husband, Bobby, and Aaron Smith and wife, Jenny, and Tiffany Gartner and husband, Joe; as well as six great grandchildren, Myla, Bear, and Joel Burke, and Lilly, Levi, and Laila Gartner.
She also leaves many cherished friends among the residents, staff, and visitors at Gilmer Nursing and Rehab. The family is forever grateful to the loving kindness shown to her by so many there.
Claudean was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Smith, her parents, and her brother, Charles Muckleroy.
