Claude Rex Holder

Services for Claude Rex Holder, 90, of Longview, Texas, will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas, with Bro. Elbert Jones and Bro. Gary Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in Grice Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Holder passed away December 1, 2012, in Longview. He was born October 21, 1922, in Upshur County, to Charlie "Cub" and Willie Lang Holder. Mr. Holder served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and held a bachelor's degree from LeTourneau College. Mr. Holder was retired head of the maintenance department at LeTourneau University. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Holder is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Peggy Holder of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Donny Chamberlain of Gilmer; brother, Ray Holder of Mesquite; special friend, Frances Holloway of Tatum; four grandchildren, Jeff Holder, Lacy Herndon, Paul Chamberlain and Chrissy Flinn; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Cross Holder; and great-grandson, Peyton Holder. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, December 2, 2012, at the funeral home.
