Clara Ida Raabe

A Mass of Christian Burial for Clara Ida Raabe will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Union Grove at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 with Reverend Mark Dunne officiating. Interment will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 2, 2015 in Calvary Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum in Dallas with MSGR. Thomas Weinzapfel officiating. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with visitation to follow. Clara was born on September 9, 1920, in Westphalia, Texas to William and Caroline Raabe. She was the 2nd of 8 children. She moved to Dallas, Texas and worked as the Finance Manager for Republic National Life Insurance Company for 35 years. Clara was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas for 50 plus years where she belonged to the Over 55 club, Catholic Daughters and the Ladies study group GIFT. She was very active in her community and did lots of volunteer work. She liked to travel and has been to most of the U. S. and lots of Europe. Clara moved to East Texas in 2010, where she lived at the Wesley House. She attended St. Theresa Catholic Church in Union Grove and made many new friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anne and two brothers, Alois and Emil Raabe. Clara is survived by two sisters, Sally Benton and husband Arlie of White Oak, Texas and Lorene Schneider of Temple, Texas; two brothers, Bernard Raabe of Dallas, Texas and Walter Raabe and wife, Joyce of Gilmer, Texas. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Ronnie Schneider, Tommy Schneider, Russell Schneider, David Benton, Steve Harris and Johnny Hahn. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 10138 Union Grove Rd., Gladewater, Texas 75647. The family would like to thank The Wesley House, Heart to Heart Hospice and the two sitters, Melba Moore and Ina Robertson for their loving care.
