Christine Warrick

Christine Turner Warrick, of Gilmer, Texas passed peacefully on December 13, 2016, at Wesley House. She was born July 3, 1916, in Grice, Texas, the daughter of Laster and Lessie (Arnold) Turner.

In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Christine worked as a nurse at Gilmer Hospital for many years. In later years, she enjoyed volunteering with the Gilmer Hospital Auxiliary. She also worked with and had a true love for the special education students in the Gilmer school system. She was a member of Gilmer First Baptist Church most of her life.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Warrick and sisters Geraldine McDonald and Kathleen Fouts. She is survived by her children, Judy Neel and her husband I D of Houston; Jimmie Gatlin and his wife Peggy of Bastrop; Suzie Bongers and her husband Harvey of Houston; two sisters, Ted Machen of Ore City, and LaVerne Volz of Gilmer; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and four devoted nieces.

A visitation service will be held at 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Interment will be at Enon Cemetery, Enon. Gifts in Christine’s memory to Gilmer Fire Department or a charity of choice.
