Christine Hudspeth, 88, of Ore City, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 surrounded by her precious family. She was born to William Henry and Nola Belle (Walker) Jackson in Monroe Community, Texas on October 22, 1934. Christine spent her younger years on the family farm picking cotton with her parents and ten siblings. She graduated from Kilgore High School in 1953. Shortly after graduating, she met her husband and soulmate, Larry Van Hudspeth. They soon started a family. She spent her time caring for her three daughters and working as a seamstress, which is a skill she passed on to her girls.
Christine was devoted to her family and God and attended Cedar Springs Baptist Church in Ore City until her health kept her home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, W. Henry and Nola Jackson; her beloved husband, Larry Van Hudspeth; daughters Robbie Nelson and Kathryn and her husband James Wills; grandson Clifton Wills, siblings; William Jackson, Lloyd Jackson, Falvey Jackson, J.C. Jackson, Wayne Jackson, Beatrice Smilowitz and Winnie Burgin.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deanna and husband Harry Sustaire; grandchildren, Amanda and her husband Jacob Wright, Brooke Sustaire, Kaleb Wills , Rachel Morrison, Lauren and her husband Jason Waldon, Joseph and Maleri Lee Downer; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Abigail, Christopher Jr. “Bo” , and Logan; as well as her siblings, Leroy Jackson, Doris Baird and Alice Davis, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hudspeth will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 10:00 am at Cedar Springs Baptist Church in Ore City with Bobby Clawson officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Interment will take place following the services in the Ore City Cemetery.
