“Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.”
Psalm 90:1-2
Christa Mauelshagen (nee Mühlinghaus) was born Dec 12, 1924 in Landsberg on the Warthe, Neumark, Germany. After losing 2 brothers and her father, she worked with her mother in their produce store in the walled city of Königsberg in the Neumark. As WWII ended, she escaped her pillaged and burned town at age 20. She fled as a Potsdam refugee, resettling in Wuppertal, Germany.
After the war, she met a young man named Karl Mauelshagen, and followed him to America in 1951. Christa and Karl were married and had three children. Christa and Karl became U.S. citizens as soon as they were able. She raised their children with Karl, instilling honesty, fairness, civility, and respect, and made sure they were raised in the Church, to have the same hope and strength through Jesus Christ.
Over the years, they raised their family in Michigan, retired to Florida, relocated to Georgia and found friends everywhere. They saved well and travelled often, enjoying their 60+ years together.
In 2019, Christa moved to Texas to be cared for by her elder son and his wife. On the morning of March 2nd, 2021, she peacefully went to sleep at home. Her saving faith in Jesus Christ took her straight to His presence, where she is ecstatically happy and whole.
Christa was preceded in death by her brother Rudolf, infant brother Siegfried, father Rudolf, mother Marie, and husband Karl (2013).
Children, Karin and Philip, Ralph and Debra, Mark and Angela
