Charles Rodney (Chuck) Mears, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2020 after a brief illness. A celebration of life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020, at his residence in Pritchett atop his “Mountain”.
Chuck was born November 11, 1950 in Gladewater to Earl Henry and Roberta Coffee Mears. He was the eleventh of twelve children. He was a graduate of Gladewater H.S. and went on to earn a degree in welding. Chuck was also a painter, carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic and above all else a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a dedicated Awana Leader for 17 years and loved each child as if they were his own.
Chuck married Brenda Williams Mears on October 25, 1974 and they made their home in Pritchett on a beautiful hill top with a panoramic view. Chuck loved his family and never met a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Moe, Paul, Don and Gerald and his sister Julia Dougan.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Brenda; son Rodney Brent Mears and wife Cecil; seven grandchildren Erin, Alexandria, Tristin, Constance, Zayden, Jeshua and Anjelina; seven great grandchildren; brothers Glenn, John and Roger; sisters Sharon Ford, Janice Castleberry and Mary Mears as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
