Graveside services for Charles R. Smith 75, of Hawkins will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2013, at the Hawkins Cemetery in Hawkins with Bro. Jim Crump officiating. Interment will be in the Hawkins Cemetery in Hawkins. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins. Mr. Smith passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Bay City, TX. Mr. Smith was born July 29, 1938 in Teaselville, TX to Leonard Cleo and Abilene Brad Smith. He was retired from Borden"s Milk Company, member of the Smith County Sheriff Posse Horse Patrol, veteran of Korea War with the U.S. Army and National Guard and had a booth at Canton Trade Days for over 20 years. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Kathryn Smith of Bay City, TX; son, Darryl Smith of Tyler; daughter and son-in-law, Charlann and Dennis Griffin of Big Sandy; brother, Timothy Smith of Austin; sisters, Linda McGlathery of White Oak and Patsy Goodman of Lake Palestine; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his daughter, Darenda Kay Kale. Pallbearers will be Chance Hall, Micheal Hall, Dennis Griffin, John Goodman, Dusty Green and Chad Green. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins.
