Charles Paul Watson left this life and entered his heavenly home on Friday, December 6, 2013. He was at his residence surrounded by family when he took the last steps of his earthly journey. Funeral services will be held at Croley Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 9, 2013, with Rev. Wayne Norvell and his grandson, Rev. Stephen R. Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Longview. Visitation will be Sunday, December 8, 2013, from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Paul was born January 11, 1924, in Longview, Texas to Charles Luther Watson and Minnie Lee Strain Watson. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and an ever present pillar of strength to his family. He was a man of few words who lived out his deep abiding faith daily in his character and smile, along with kind words and actions for all were his trademarks. During his life he had several vocations including Dairy Owner/Operator, machinist, and independent trucker. He and his beloved wife spent many hours creating life time memories as they traveled throughout the U. S. He was a World War II veteran. On March 15, 1963, he and Emma Lorene Watson joined their hearts, love, and families in marriage. They spent 47 wonderful years together. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife and her son, Jimmy Boykin, three sisters, Ruby Gibson, Mamie Busby, Lottie Simon, a brother, Wayne Watson, and son-in-law, Bobby Andrews. Mr. Watson is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Byron and Pat Watson of Dripping Springs, Gerald and Barbara Boykin of Tool and Barbara Jean Boykin of Point; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Tommy Hill of Gilmer, Earlene and James (Peanut) Horn of Hemphill and Carolyn and Clifford McCartney of Gun Barrel City; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchilcren; five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family expresses a special thank you for the wonderful, loving and compassionate care provided by the administration and staff at the Wesley House during his years of residence there, Kinsman Home Health, and Faith Hospice.
