He grew up in Diana and graduated from New Diana High School in 1953. He married Patricia Wallace in 1963. He retired from Lone Star Steel in 1998. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ currently attending Alpine. He is survived by his wife, Patricia and their three children and their families: Linda, Don and Emily Woody; Ann, Jimmy and Rachel Hanhart; and Charles and Odin Arnold; half-brothers John Russell and Randy Arnold; and half-sister, Jo Ellen Mackey. Jimmie was a master carpenter; everything he built was straight and square. His workmanship endures in his own house as well as many others in the area. When his kids were young, he built an incredible treehouse complete with a swinging bridge in the back yard. He also built an awesome tower to swing from. The treehouse still stands today and his grandchildren have shared in the adventure. He was an avid Aggie football fan. For many years he grew a very large vegetable garden. He enjoyed running trot lines at Lake Thomas. He loved feeding the raccoons, bunnies, birds, and squirrels. He and his family had recently returned from their annual Galveston beach vacation. These memories will forever be cherished. Memorial gifts can be made to Caring and Sharing, c/o Alpine Church of Christ, 610 East Loop 281, Longview, TX 75605.
