Services for Charles Hamilton Roberts, Jr. 92, of Gilmer will be held 2:00 P.M, Thursday September 1, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Larry W. Osborne officiating and burial to follow at Gilmer City Cemetery in Gilmer. Mr. Roberts passed away on August 29, 2011 in Gilmer. Mr. Roberts was born on July 9, 1919, in Gilmer, Texas to Charles Hamilton Roberts, Sr. and Rosalie Norton Roberts. He married Eleanor Gressett on September 27, 1947 in Midland, Texas. Mr. Roberts was an independent oil operator and a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Tamara Roberts of Van Alystyne, Texas; Tom and Martha Roberts of Galena, Missouri, Bob and Racheal Roberts of Gilmer; daughter, Lynn Moore of Frisco, Texas; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eleanor "Honey" Roberts in 2003 and brother. R. C. "Dick" Roberts. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 31, 6:00 until 8:00 P.M at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the charity of your choice.
