Charles Daniel Medlin

Funeral services for Charles Daniel Medlin, age 73, of East Mountain, will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Gilmer First Assembly of God Church 1919 N. Wood St., Gilmer, TX 75644, Rev. Donald Points, and Rev. William Carnley officiating. Interment will follow at the Old East Mountain Cemetery in East Mountain, with Danny Medlin, Michael Medlin, Alex Medlin, Aaron Medlin, Shawn Davis, Chris Davis, Noah Medlin and Chris Everett serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer.
Charles was born in Gilmer on October 30, 1944 to the late Claudis and Ina Williams Medlin. He was a self-employed painter, a city councilman for over forty years for East Mountain, president of the Loft of the Pines Racing Pigeon Club, and a member of Grace Crossing Church in White Oak. His greatest love in life was his relationship with the lord. He raised and trained homing and racing pigeon’s throughout his life, and enjoyed collecting, assembling and running his model trains. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Evelyn Medlin in 2005.
He married his second wife, Candus “Candy” Welch Medlin, of East Mountain, on July 6, 2007 in Hot Springs, she survives; he is also survived by his sons, Danny Medlin and wife Kaylen of East Mountain, Michael Medlin and wife Oly of Longview, Chris and Shawn Davis both of Longview; daughters, Kimberly Everett and husband David of East Mountain, Pam Mitchell and husband Scott of Hallsville, Misty Green and husband Les of Gilmer, Cortney Anderson of Longview; brother, Jerry Medlin and wife Fonda of Gladewater; brother-in-law and friend, Jerry Welch; grandchildren, Aaron, Amanda, Alex, Chris, Amy, Mikaila, Taylor, Noah, Mollie, Katie, Logan, Landon, Lauren, Olivia, Luke, Victoria; great-grandchildren, Brycen, Brynlee, Braylen, Leighton, Callaghan, Grayson, Gannon, and Jackson.
