Services for Mrs. Cecelia A. Woodle, 77, of Gilmer will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel of Gilmer with Reverend Charles Johnson and Larry W. Osborne officiating with burial to follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Upshur County. Cecelia Ann Woodle was born on August 20, 1934 to Cecil and Mayvon Harris in Latch Texas and passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 in Gilmer. My mother and dad were married 10 years before I came along. Even though I was an only child, my childhood was happy playing with my pets, friends and special granny who lived a quarter of a mile down from me. The highlight of my childhood was going to Jim Will Long"s store and I got to stick my hand in the candy jar for five pieces of candy. I went to the 4 room Latch school until it consolidated with Harmony when I was in the fifth grade. When I was a junior in Harmony school, my Daddy was transferred to Henderson where I graduated with top honors. I then went to Tyler Junior College and graduated in 1954 with high honors. I met Lawrence Woodle while I was piano player at Latch Baptist Church and dated him my sophomore year of college. We married at the end of the semester. I quit my education for a while and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, David Allen and then continued my education getting my BBA degree in August, 1956. I taught Business in Big Sandy School for five years, went back to college in 1962 receiving a master"s degree teaching English and Business in Gladewater for 11 years. We were blessed with a beautiful granddaughter in 1981. In 1979, we moved from Gladewater back to Latch, and I received another Master"s degree in guidance and counseling. I taught at Harmony from 1975 to 1993 teaching English, Business and was a high school counselor. I have been blessed with knowledge, skills and a wonderful husband of 57 years who has made it possible for me to travel and to do my own things in life. I said of Lawrence: "We"ve always had a good and happy marriage and always very much in love with very few dull moments." Cecelia is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lawrence Woodle; grandchild, Lesa Herbst and her husband, Chris; great grandchildren, Ben and Brooke Herbst. She was preceded is death by her son, David Woodle, in 2000. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
