Carl Joe Thornton

Graveside Services for Carl Joe Thornton, 74, of Gladewater will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Thornton passed away Monday, February 3, 2020, in Longview.

Joe was born July 20, 1945 in Gladewater to the late Jesse Cleveland Thornton and Edna Mae Chester. He earned his Associates Degree from Kilgore College. Mr. Thornton served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Joe had worked for King Tool Company since 1975; he was currently the Quality Control Manager. Joe was a hard worker and loved his job. He was also very family oriented and patriotic. He enjoyed fishing, watching any and all high school sports and spending time with his family and friends. Joe’s legacy with live on through his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter Tammy Howell and husband Billy; son Todd Thornton and wife Shawna; step-son Trent Sasser; two brothers Jesse Thornton and wife Dottie and Wayne Thornton and wife Becky; seven grandchildren J.W. Howell, Nolan Howell, Cameron Howell, Rylee Thornton, Parker Thornton, Kyndall Thornton and Creed Sasser as well as many other loving family and friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter Whitney Sasser.
