Carl E Meason

Graveside services for Carl Meason, 93, of Gladewater, will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Hawkins Cemetery with Reverend Bailey Harris and Larry Osborne officiating. Services are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home, Gladewater, Texas.Carl was born on September 13, 1920, in Crowell, Texas, to Millard and Sammie Meason. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy where he fought in the Normandy and Africa campaigns. Mr. Meason was very active in the Masonic Lodge #852 A.F. A.M. of Gladewater reaching the level of 32nd degree mason. He was also a member of the Eastern Star in Gilmer, Waco Scottish Rite, and the Sharon Shrine. Mr. Meason also served as a member of the First Baptist Church in Gladewater, Texas.
He was married to Mary V. Meason who preceded him in death. He is also preceded by his parents Millard F. Meason and Sammie E. Meason; brother: Maurice Meason; sister: Faye Boyd and daughter Carol Ann Martin. Carl Meason died Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Longview, Texas.
Surviving Mr. Meason are daughter and son-in-law: Robbie and Dub Floyd of Gladewater; granddaughters: Carrie Thomas, Susan K. Mitchell and husband Joseph Mitchell, Lorie L. Harroff and husband Ralph; great granddaughters Emily Claire Mitchell, Rachel Lauren Mitchell, Emma Elizabeth Harroff; nephew: Larry Boyd of Dallas, Texas.
Pallbearers are Bill High, Joseph P. Mitchell, Jimmy Williams, Bob McDonald, John M. Thomas, and Ralph Harroff.Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church, Gladewater, Texas.
