Bonnie Mason Ferguson, loving mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in Dallas, TX on Oct. 9, 2023, at the age of 99. Bonnie was born May 26, 1924, in Flatonia, TX to Muriel Taggert and Ernest Lowell Mason. She married Garland Perry Ferguson on Oct. 2, 1943, in Galveston, TX.
Bonnie began her teaching career in Bruceville-Eddy during WW II, and taught one year at San Marcus Baptist Academy. Garland and Bonnie moved to Union Grove in 1947, and to Gladewater in 1972. She taught many years in both Gladewater and Union Grove before she retired in 1983.
At her passing, Bonnie was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church of Gladewater. She taught a ladies Sunday school class and was a member of the choir for many years. She also served as President of WMU, was an active member of the Shirley Ditmore Bible Study Group, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Beta Sigma Phi.
Bonnie/Mother/Nanny enjoyed her crossword puzzles, word jumbles and a game of bingo! She was a life-long Texas Rangers fan, and the Rangers, Hallmark, and “Monk” provided many hours of entertainment for her.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Barbara Elaine, her husband, Garland, and two sisters, Ernestine Mason Brewer and Carolyn Mason Deviney.
She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Bonnie & Morris Bryan of Dallas, and son & daughter-in-law, Bob & Elizabeth Ferguson of Rowlett. She was so proud of her 7 grandchildren and spouses: Stacey LaLumia and James, Becky Senderling and Adam, Keith Ferguson and Barie, Karen Coleman and Alan, Lindsey Hudman and John Paul, Stephanie Contreras, and Matthew Bryan. Her 20 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren will remember her fondly, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
