Bobby Watts

Bobby Gene Watts passed from this life on earth to his heavenly home on 1-8-2025. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Bobby was born 3-25-1939 in Greggton Texas. The fifth of nine children born to William E. Watts and Violet C. Easley.

He attended school at Mings Chapel through sixth grade and graduated Gladewater High School. He then served his country in the army. He married Myra Johnson in 1959. To this union was born three children: Judy Latham, Ronnie Watts, Stephen (and Kandi) Watts. He also had 2 stepchildren Jesse Taylor and Jan Moore with late wife Sandy Taylor Watts. Grandchildren are: Jennifer (& Bobby) Sanders, Jessica (& Matt) Albert, Erica (& Jason) George, Collin (& Madison) Latham; Joshua (& Krystal) Watts, Tasha Watts, Daniel (& Ashley) Watts; Tiffini Watts and Gabriel Watts. Twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving him is one brother, Bill Watts and three sisters Betty Watts, Joyce Watts and Kay Whitehorn.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his second wife Sandy Taylor Watts, sister Dorothy Williams and brothers Donald Watts, Neil Watts and Carl Watts.

After his father’s death he took over the family store on highway 80 in Gladewater to help his mother raise his three youngest siblings. Bobby was a “Jack of all trades”. Doing anything he set his mind to, automotive, farming, carpentry, etc. He built his home in Pritchett and Gladewater. He created the “Jump-One-Game”, made and sold hundreds. He sent some to our soldiers fighting in Vietnam to help with the boredom between fighting.

He was a deacon in the Pritchett Church of Christ and help organize the Pritchett Water System, serving as one of the first board members. He retired from Schlitz/Stroh’s Brewery in Longview Texas. He finished his remaining years living an active life hosting fish frys monthly for family and friends. Being an active member of North Loop Church of Christ. He recently hosted a fish fry for a five-generation celebration. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and sharing his harvest with friends and family.

There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 2 in the afternoon at The North Loop Church of Christ in Gladewater, Texas.
