Bobby Lee Hill

Funeral services for Bobby Lee Hill, 91, of Gladewater, will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Gladewater. Interment will follow services at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until service time at the First Christian Church. Mr. Hill passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, in Gladewater.

Bobby was born January 10, 1928 in Abilene, Texas to the late John Elgin Hill and Annie Ruby McGuire Hill. Mr. Hill graduated from Abilene H.S. and continued his education at T.C.U. earning a Master’s Degree in Education. He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Hill worked for several school districts including Shamrock as a teacher and coach, Gladewater as the High School Principal from 1966-75, Hallsville and Texarkana as the Assistant Superintendent before retiring from Bonham as the Superintendent in 1981. He was a longtime faithful member of the First Christian Church in Gladewater. Bobby was an avid outdoorsman and cherished his fishing trips to Alaska. He was a proud grandfather and never missed his grandchildren’s activities. Bobby loved all animals including his cows; but especially his faithful dog Cleo who was always at his side. Bobby leaves a legacy that will not soon be forgotten by the family and friends he leaves behind.

Bobby is survived by his two daughters Kathy Bowden and Cheryl Hill; two grandchildren Clint Bowden and Kayla Bowden; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many other loving family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Annie Hill; wife Jean Hill; brother Weldon Hill and two grandchildren Ashley Hill and Waylon Knable.
