Bobby Lantrip

GILMER- Funeral services for Bobby Joe Lantrip, 87, of, Upshur County, Texas will be held at 9:00 A.M., Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Rosewood Baptist Church in Gilmer with Bro. Charles Johnson officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Lantrip went home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2016. He was born in Rosewood, Texas on March 24, 1929. At the age of 8, his family left Rosewood for Dallas, where he attended school and soon after enlisted in the Air Force. He served from 1947 to 1950 and came home to marry Donna H. Belk on October 13, 1951. Bob lived in Arlington for 33 years working for LTV Corp., an aircraft and defense contractor, rising to the position of Contract manager for their Missiles and Space program. He retired in 1986 and came back to Rosewood for the remainder of his days. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and socializing with those who shared his appreciation of music. Bob is survived by his sisters, Mary Finch and Joan Nance; daughter, Lisa Lantrip; son, Gary Lantrip and wife, Sandra; grandchildren Kristen Jones and husband Tony, Jon Lantrip, and Courtney Lantrip, engaged to Brian Holmes. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Donna (2005); sister, Jimmy Lou Krecek (2015) and parents, Joseph Lewis Lantrip and Era (Stephenson) Lantrip. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and those who knew of his kindness. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas.
