Bobby Gene Simpson

Bobby Gene Simpson, 85, of Gilmer, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Bobby was born May 11, 1936, in Gilmer to the late Robert M. and Ethel Agnes Burns Simpson.

He worked as an industrial cable fitter until his retirement in 1999 and then drove for O’Reiley’s for many years. Bobby was a member of the Olde Tyme Church and loved to play golf and spend time with his family. He will be greatly missed by the one left behind to cherish his memory.

Bobby is survived by his son, Wesley Simpson; daughter Kristi Laughlin; brother, Waylen Simpson; brother-in-law, James Sewell; sister, Brenda Gatlin and husband Rex; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Childress and Pat McClung; two grandchildren, Daniel Bell and Justin Laughlin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Simpson; brother, Thomas Henry Simpson and sister, Norma Joyce Barrett.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer.
