Billy Ray Smallwood

Graveside services for Billy Ray Smallwood, 82, of Gladewater, will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 10 A.M. at Rock Springs Cemetery. Born on December 23, 1931, in Gregg County, Texas, he died on Saturday, March 1, 2014. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a retired custodian for the Sabine Independent School District. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tillie Smallwood of Gladewater; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Shannon Smallwood of Longview; Walter and Fiona Smallwood of Longview; Kirby and Lisa Smallwood of Liberty City; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen Sue and Pete Chavez; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Smallwood of Longview and Robert Smallwood of Liberty City; two sisters, Mary Zubar of Liberty City and Rosie Knight of Liberty City. Pallbearers will be Steve Smallwood, Walter Smallwood, Zach Smallwood, and Jake Smallwood. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
