GLADEWATER- Funeral services for Mr. Billy Max Rash, 78, of White Oak, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Interment will be held at the Old Bethlehem Cemetery. Mr. Rash passed away on Sunday May 15, 2016 at his home in White Oak. He was born on July 21, 1937 in Gilmer, Texas to Junious W. and Faye Sorrells Rash. He married Shandra Cates Rash on July 27, 1979. Mr. Rash was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked 16 years for Texas Eastman and later opened Greggton Hardware. After selling the hardware store Mr. Rash opened Rash Feed and Supply in Greggton where he was the owner/operator for 22 years. From his early 20"s he was an all-around real cowboy. He enjoyed wild hog hunting with dogs on horseback, team roping, and was a member of the United States Team Ropers Association. After his retirement, he met his fellow retired buddies every afternoon at Texas Traditions for coffee. He was a loving husband, brother, dad, and loyal friend. He was a man of his word who was loved and respected by many. Mr. Rash is survived by his wife, Shandra Rash of White Oak; sons, Thomas Gideon "Gid" Rash of Diana; Kelvin David Rash of East Mountain; brother, Kennith D. Rash of Gilmer; sister, Nelda Rash Arnold of Longview; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Katheryn Brooke Cates and husband, Corey, Timbra Leigh Rash; great grandchildren, Evelyn Kate Holder, Cody Holder, and Shaelyn Grace Lee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Junious W. and Faye Rash; brothers, Ray L. Rash and Junious "Coot" Rash, and his son, Gary Neal Rash. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 in honor of Billy Max Rash. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
