Billie Jean Holland

Mrs. Billie Jean Holland, age 75, of Gilmer, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Christus-Good Shepherd Medical Center of Longview. Billie Jean was born in the East Mountain Community on April 30, 1943 to the late, Isaiah Martin Davis and Lizzie Clota Caldwell Davis. Billie married, Mr. Carl Richard Holland on January 23, 1959 at the Gladewater Church of the Nazarene. She was a devoted member of the Gladewater Church of the Nazarene, and longtime president of the Nazarene Missionaries International. Billie turned her love of flowers, into an enjoyable career working as a floral arranger for, Flowers by Rose, and other area florists. She later provided childcare for family, and friends, and was over the Church of the Nazarene Nursery for many years. Billie was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold Davis; and great-grandson, Jacob Knight.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Mr. Carl Holland of Gilmer; two daughters, Becky Jeanne Winters and husband Robert Milton of Gilmer, Brenda Jolene Ray and husband Robert of Gladewater; brother, Stanley Davis and wife Pam of Kilgore; four grandchildren, Melissa Knight and husband Jason, Alan Winters and wife Cameron, Jonathan Ray, Tyler Ray; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Knight, Abygail Knight, Annie Claire Winters; and two nieces.

A celebration of Billie’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater; Rev. Dean Simmons, and Rev. Phillip Phelps officiatin; interment will follow at the Old East Mountain Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 15, 2019 also at the funeral home. Jerry Stone. Mason Williams, Jimmy Mohan, Larry Holly, Matthew Griffin, and Tommy Bynum will serve as pallbearers.
