Betty Louise Motes

Betty Louise Motes, age 90, of Gilmer, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at home with her family at her side. Betty was born in Atchison, Kansas to the late Leroy Phillips and Arial Aimes Phillips on February 21, 1931. She worked as a waitress throughout her life, was a member of the Moose Lodge and was baptized a Methodist. She was a dedicated homemaker, loving mother and friend, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by sons, Michael Hinz of Denver, CO., Walter Hinz and wife Ann of Waxahachie, Rocky Rhoads of Gilmer; daughters, Deborah McCoy and husband J.D. of Benton, LA., Brenda Davis of Gilmer, Amanda Rhoads of Gilmer; brother, Sonny Phillips of Missiouri; sisters, Maryann Flemming and husband of Farmington, NM., Nancy Reder and husband of Missouri, Susie Bohert of St.Jospeh, MO.; one uncle, Duane and Sue Aimes, several cousins, twelve grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Motes; brothers, Don and Jim Phillips; sister, Beverly Hunt; and grandson, David Hamm.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
