Betty June Smith

Betty June Smith, 84, of Big Sandy, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021, in Gilmer. Betty was born February 27, 1937 in Hayti, Missouri to the late Junius A. Figley and Bula B. Ives Figley.

Betty helped her family as a child working as a migrant worker. At the age of 16 while living in Port Clinton, Ohio she met the love of her life Reymer Harold Smith and two years later they were married. She en-joyed being outdoors and gardening. Betty was a talented artist and singer. She felt very at home on the stage as a performer and entertainer. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Betty lived a life of highs and lows; but lived life to the fullest. Betty will not soon be forgotten by those she leaves behind.

Betty is survived by her sons Jack Andrew Smith and James Allen Smith; a sister Patsy Figley as well as many other loving family and friends.
