Services for Bettie Lee Shumaker, 86, of Gladewater will be Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Floyd officiating. Interment will follow services at Gladewater Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Croley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Shumaker passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 in Longview. Bettie, the youngest of ten children of the late Mack and Lela Barnes Thomas was born November 27, 1929 in Spur, Texas. Bettie joined John Wesley Shumaker in Holy Matrimony and remained his devoted wife until his death. To this union five children were born and raised. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. Bettie will be truly missed by all the loving family and friends she leaves behind. Left to cherish her memory are two sons James Wesley Shumaker and wife Len of Gladewater and Howard Stanley Shumaker and wife Sandy of Arlington; daughter Donna Shumaker Patterson of Gilmer; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving family and friends. Bettie is preceded in death by her husband John Wesley Shumaker and two children Joy Faye Shumaker and Glenn Shumaker.
