Bettie Bates

Services for Mrs. Bettie Bates, 94 of Greenville, formerly of Gilmer will be held Saturday afternoon, July 17, 2010 First United Methodist Church in Gilmer. Private interment will follow at Gilmer City Cemetery in Upshur County. Mrs. Bates passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010 in Greenville. She was born June 20, 1916 in Atlanta, Texas to Sloan and Pearl Wiggins Harper. Mrs. Bates and her husband, Carson were former owners of Western Auto in Gilmer. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Asberry of Greenville; grandchildren, Molly Orr and her husband Matt, and James Asberry.
