Services for Bertha Lynette Blear, 94, of Gladewater will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Mr. Joe Chase and Mr. Todd Clifton officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the Thursday services in the chapel. A private family burial will follow at the West Mountain Cemetery. Mrs. Blear passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 in Longview. Mrs. Blear was born March 7, 1922 in Corsicana, Texas to the late Robert Lee Hodge and Sarah Elizabeth Gilcrease. She was a longtime faithful member of the North Loop Church of Christ, formerly Quitman & Center Sts. Church of Christ. Mrs. Blear did some work as a caregiver in private homes, local nursing homes and hospitals; but her true work was as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Bertha enjoyed her furbabies, crocheting, cooking, gardening, her soap operas, working puzzles, working in the yard, and watching her hummingbirds. She was a loving woman with a great sense of humor. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by four children Loretta Lynette Blear Mitchell, Jimmy Dale Blear and wife Kathy, Sharon Elaine Blear Kendall and husband Doug and Kathy Denise Blear White and husband David, all of Gladewater; eight grandchildren Kevin Mitchell and wife, Jane of Los Alamos, NM; Michael Mitchell of Liberty City; Jason Blear and wife Amber of Longview, Eric Blear and wife Kristen of Frisco, Brandon Blear and wife Brittany of Longview, Nicholas Blear of Longview, Cherry Kendall Downs and husband Kyle, of Tatum, Emily Kendall Jester and husband Jeffrey of Magnolia, AR; two step grandchildren Alan White and wife Kristi of Haughton, LA and Christina White Wittmer and husband Will of Haughton, LA; twelve great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren, as well as many other loving family and friends. Mrs. Blear is preceded in death by her parents, her husband David Leroy Blear, her son David Wayne Blear, and her grandson Cory Grunden.
