Bernice Ellison Blalock, 88, of Dallas passed away on Tuesday, October 1 in Bedford, Texas after a brief illness. She was born in Ore City, Texas to Andrew Jackson Ellison and Myrtle Ellison on April 13, 1925. She lived in Dallas most of her adult life with her husband, Aubrey Blalock, who was born and reared in Gilmer, Texas. Aubrey preceded her in death in 2004. Bernice had many friends across the country. She never met a stranger, who did not immediately connect with her. She was a magnet to people of all ages and races, who were drawn to her as a friend due to her sincere caring for people. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Croley"s Funeral Home in Gilmer. Visitation will be held at noon, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Park at 2:00 PM. She is survived by her sons, Joe, Larry and Gary Blalock, along with Suanne Blalock, daughter-in-law and Pam Simpson, future daughter-in-law. Additionally, she is survived by brothers, Waymon and Doyle Ellison of Ore City. She has seven grandchildren, Joe Blalock II, Pamela Parmley, Marissa Meeks, Jason Blalock, Justin Blalock, Andrea Blalock and Laura McCall and thirteen great grandchildren. The pallbearers are Jason Blalock, Justin Blalock, Keith Parmley, Cary Meeks, Donnie Ellison and Seth McCall. Honorary pallbearers are Gayle Hicks and Jordy Bravo.
