Graveside services for Bennie Lee McDowell, 83, of Gladewater, Texas will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Gladewater Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. with Larry W. Osborne officiating. Services are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas. Bennie passed on Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Gladewater. Bennie was born to Earl and Addie Best in Smackover, Arkansas on March 9, 1931. She lived in Gladewater most of her life and was a member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. McDowell is survived by her daughter, Melanie and her son Logan Clower of Gladewater; grandson Lake McDowell his wife Amber and their daughter, Mila McDowell; son, Dr. James H. "Jim" McDowell and wife Mary of Gladewater; granddaughter, Lila Carlson and husband George of Malibu, California; granddaughter, Anna Phillips and husband Wes of Washington, DC; granddaughter, Shanua Smith and husband Derrick of Longview; great granddaughter, Ivy Jo and Mack Phillips of Washington and Owen Smith of Longview. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Bill Best of Gladewater, Vernon Best of Salt Lake, Utah, and Earl Best Jr. of Henderson, sisters: Dot Brinson of Winnsboro and Jean Perdue of Gladewater.
