Ben Earl Irby

Funeral Services for Mr. Ben E. Irby, 91, of Longview, Texas, will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater Reverend Gara Handorf officiating. Interment will follow at Gladewater Memorial Park. Mr. Irby passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 in Longview, Texas.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until service time at Croley Funeral Home.

Ben was born on September 5, 1927 in Grand Saline, Texas to the late William Gaston Irby and Bubie Idella Milam Irby. Ben and his wife Nellie of 66 wonderful years were blessed with three beautiful children. Ben worked in oil field sales for numerous companies. He was a partner in the Midway Pipe and Supply Company in White Oak. Ben retired from the GI Oil Field Supply Company but continued working until he was 80. Ben Served during WWII in the United States Navy. He enjoyed sports and coached Little League Baseball when his son Glenn was younger. Ben was an avid golfer and was a member of the Longview Country Club and also Oak Forest Country Club. Ben was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather who will always be in the hearts of his family and friends, he will be truly missed.

Ben is survived by his son Glenn Earl Irby and wife Lori of Mansfield, Texas; daughters Sheryl Lynn Marshall and husband Randy of Oakdale, California, Gay Nell Tucker and husband Dan of Longview, Texas; brother B.G. Irby, Jr.; six grandchildren Mandy Jameson, Missy Gonzalez, Trista Roel, Dustyn Marshall, Ashtyn Irby, Devon Irby, and 14 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 66 years Nellie who passed away in August of this year and his brother B.G. Irby, Sr.
