Gladewater -- Graveside services for Basil Dollins, 91, of Gladewater, will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015, at 10 A.M. at Gladewater Memorial Park with Larry W. Osborne officiating. Born on May 11, 1924, in Corsicana, Texas, to William E. and Demmer Geter Dollins, he entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. A 1942 graduate of Gladewater High School, he attended Kilgore College. He married Jimmie Cansler on February 17, 1949, and for sixty-six years they shared their lives together. He was parts manager for Darr Equipment for over forty years. A pioneer city council member for Clarksville City, he served diligently for fifty-two years. As a council member, the Clarksville City Volunteer Fire Department was established. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Jimmie Dollins; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Daniel Zivney; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Debra Dollins; three grandchildren, Meagan Ashley Dollins, Lindsay Zivney Friedman, and Derek Daniel Zivney; three great-grandchildren, Adelyn Lindsay Zivney, Colton Derek Zivney, and Brooks Landon Friedman;; and sister, Dulene Anstine; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Floyd Dollins The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
