Barbara Foster Farmer, 92, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, in Kerrville, Texas. She was born on December 13, 1932 in Greensburg, Kansas, to Charles L. and Bessie Ausmus Bowers.
Barbara dedicated her life to her family. She was a full time wife and stay at home mother of her 5 children until her last child became of school age. After which, she worked as a seamstress and a manager of a fabric shop, and retired after 25 years as a licensed agent for Germania Farm Mutual Insurance Company. On December 21, 1949 she married Charles Rogers Foster, and they enjoyed 55 years together. Later in life, she married James E. Farmer on October 18, 2008 and they spent the next 11 years side by side.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. and Bessie Ausmus Bowers, husbands, Charles R. Foster, and James E. Farmer, brother, Bob w. Bowers, Son, Craig A. Foster, grandson, Nolan Levi Foster, step-granddaughter, Bonnie Beth Hubert, and son-in-law, Frank W. R. Hubert, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Brown of Mesquite, TX, Carole Rapp of Lindale, TX, Cynthia Weeks of Kerrville, TX, and Connie Owens of Kerrville, TX, daughter-in-law, Lisa Foster Bowman of Houston, TX, stepsons, Jimmy Farmer and Dwayne Farmer, sister, Joanne Bowers Hines and sister-in-law, Jeanice Foster Doty, Barbara is survived by a multitude of grandchildren great-grand children and step grandchildren and step great-grand children including 1 great great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the Mount Sylvan Baptist Church, 13073 State Highway 110 N., Tyler, Texas 75704, with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM and a reception to follow at 4:00 PM. Interment will be held at the Hawkins City Cemetery, 449 W. Blackbourn St., Hawkins, TX 75765 at 5:00 PM.
The family would love for donations to be made in memory of Barbara's son, Craig Foster, who died from polycystic kidney disease in 2020. Memorials may be made at: www.pkdflegacy.com.
Barbara was very beloved and the spiritual guide to her whole family. She taught them how to live and love God by her daily example; and will be sorely missed by all.
