Services for Arrie Benjamin Borden, Jr., 58, of Gladewater, will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 4 P.M. at the Union Grove Stadium with David Dusek and Danny Kitchens officiating. Burial will be in the new White Oak Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Born on May 18, 1954, in Decatur, Alabama, he died on Sunday, April 21, 2013, after a lengthy battle with his health. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired builder for Satterwhite Construction. He then was a substitute teacher for the Union Grove High School. Arrie was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and retired bull rider. He coached softball for 35 years. Any person Arrie came in contact with was immediately a part of his family. Friends became brothers and sisters; their children became nieces and nephews. He married Mindy Kay Lee on December 30, 2005, in the White Oak Community Church. In addition to his wife, Mindy, he is survived by his mother, Ruth Borden; 7 children, April Dawn Edmondson, Melissa Ann Cortez, Alisha Nobles, Kimber Nicole Borden, Matthew Lee Borden, Seth Aaron Nobles, and Lexy Jeanne Clark-Borden; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kem Borden and Danny Kitchens; 3 sisters, Joy Verner, Paulette Sanders, and Theresa DeVaney; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his survivors, he also is survived by a multitude of friends that he called children"Russell Harris, Nikki Youngblood, Sunni Smith, Serina Parker-Head, and Scottie Agnew, and a host of others. He was preceded in death by his father, Arrie B. Borden, Sr.; sister, and a brother. Pallbearers will be Chris Wyatt, Brian Gray, Clifford Bible, Russell Harris, Russell Lee, Yankton Hatton, Josh Verner, and Kyle Verner. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Arrie B. Borden, Jr. Scholarship Fund at the Union Grove ISD, P.O. Box 1447, Gladewater, Texas 75647. Arrie was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and an exceptional grandfather.
