Alvin E. Hoppe

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Alvin E. Hoppe of Big Sandy TX, died Dec 3, 2018. Al was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Alvina Tober Hoppe and four sisters Ella, Hertha, Alma and Hilda. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gloria Queen Hoppe, daughter and son-in-law Jody Hoppe Trigleth and Jessie Trigleth of Bryant AR, and a son Keith A. Hoppe of Big Sandy TX. Al is also survived by his two precious granddaughters, Jessica Trigleth of Conway AR and Jennifer Trigleth of Bryant AR.
Al was the youngest in a family of eleven children and the only one born in the United States. Along with his sisters named above, his parents emigrated from the Ukraine to Mexico in 1926. After living there for three years as they awaited the quota of immigrants into the U.S. to be lifted they immigrated to the U.S. in 1929.
The first six of his siblings had died as very young children in Russia, most during the expatriation of 1915 as the family had to flee their home in Novograd Wolynsk Ukraine and were sent to Siberia just before the Bolshevik Revolution.
Al was a learned man, having North Dakota State University as his alma mater. He served in the United States Air Force during the years between the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and he was further educated as a rocket scientist, which served him in his work as an Instructor and Course Developer for the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired from the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City OK.
Along with his family he leaves behind many good friends. May God keep him safely in His hands and give us, the family and friends, the comfort, strength and peace to continue on until we meet Al again. All praise to God. A memorial service will be help 2:00 PM Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, TX.
