Alice Marie Smith

Mrs. Alice Marie Smith, 80 years old, was born in 1936 in Gilmer, Texas and went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2017.

As a long life resident of the Gladewater, Texas area, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Jones and her father, Grady Jones. Also preceding her death was her beloved husband, Mr. H. Wayne Smith, after 61 years of marriage.

Left to cherish her memories are her six children, Beverly Tyron, Wayne A. Smith, Jerry Smith, Brenda Smith, John Smith and Roger Smith. Also left to cherish her memories are 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, three brothers and one sister, as well as many dear friends.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and treasured her relationship with God. With the same love she received from above, it was her job to share this love with all member of her family.

Mrs. Smith’s life was invested in being a good wife and a loving mother whose talents could be found in the kitchen where she was always cooking, baking, canning and putting forth every effort she could to see that the needs of her family were met.

In her spare time she enjoyed working in her yard and garden, playing cards and collecting what-nots of all kinds. As she has gone now to be with her Lord, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Services for Mrs. Smith will be at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Ricky Joe Wallace officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Rock Springs Cemetery in Gregg County, Texas.
