Mr. A.J. Clower, age 91, of Diana, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in Longview. He was born in James, Texas on August 11, 1928 to the late Joseph and Junie Pearl Dickinson Clower. A.J. was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving honorably during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Dewtrine Hawkins on August 13, 1953 in Longview. He owned and operated A.J’s Barbershop in Diana for 52 years before retiring. He was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church, and the Ashland Masonic Lodge # 1138. He loved being outdoors, tending his vegetable garden, hunting, fishing, or taking a nature walk on his property. A.J. was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dewtrine Clower of Diana; sons, Danny Clower of Diana, Ricky Clower and wife Melanie of Diana; daughter, Trina Cooner and husband Chris of Diana; three grandchildren, Mandy Sills, Dana Cooner, Ethan Cooner; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lexie, and Bristol Sills.
Services are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home of Diana, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Smyrna United Methodist Church, Bro. James Fleet officiating; interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Smyrna United Methodist Church.
